Built with a founding partner school
Voyage began through close collaboration with Princes Primary School, a specialist setting in Liverpool. The first product grew from their own assessment practice and from day-to-day work with school leaders and classroom staff.
In September 2026, Princes will return with the newest version of Xpress/Voyage. What we learn there will anchor the next phase while we begin discovery with a small number of other special schools.

From the founder
Hi, I'm Tom — founder and creator of Voyage.
My journey began in social care, where I spent years working on mission-critical systems for local authorities and software suppliers. That experience shaped a belief I still hold strongly today: software should work for professionals, not the other way around.
The best systems reflect the way people really work. They support judgement, reduce duplication, protect sensitive information, and have a positive impact on the people using them — and the people they are there to help.
After leaving the supplier world, I went on to build software across a wide range of sectors, developing the skills and perspective needed to create thoughtful, modern systems from the ground up.
When Princes Primary School came calling, it felt like coming home. Their work with children with complex needs immediately connected with everything I had learned in social care: the importance of trust, relationships, careful recording, professional judgement, and the team around each person.
Voyage grew from that partnership. It is being built with schools, not just for them — shaped around real practice, real workflows, and the belief that every child's journey deserves to be understood and celebrated.

What is Voyage for Schools?
Voyage is a staff-facing SEND planning, assessment and learning-record platform being developed with Princes Primary School. It joins pupil profiles, EHCP-linked planning, evidence, assessment, forms and team workflows in one place. It is an evolving product, not yet a general-release service. -
Is Voyage designed for special schools?
Yes. Voyage is being designed and built with a specialist setting. The current product supports person-centred profiles, EHCP-linked planning, evidence-based assessment, learning records, configured forms, approvals and team workflows. -
Can mainstream schools use Voyage?
Yes. Voyage is designed to support inclusion in mainstream schools as well as specialist settings. It can help SENCOs, teachers, and support staff build a clearer picture around pupils with SEND, plan support, evidence progress, and work together around each child. -
Is Voyage replacing professional judgement?
No. Voyage is designed to support professional judgement, not replace it. The system can guide, organise, and suggest, but decisions remain with the staff who know the child best. -
How does Voyage support EHCP outcomes?
Voyage connects EHCP outcomes to goals and practical targets. Staff set and review those targets using their professional judgement, while learning records and assessment evidence build the wider picture around them. -
Can Voyage help with annual reviews?
Voyage brings planning, learning records, assessment evidence, forms and decisions into one pupil record, so relevant information is easier to find. A dedicated review-pack workflow is planned and will be explored with founding schools; it is not part of the current product. -
Can schools use their own curriculum frameworks?
Voyage includes frameworks from pre-formal through formal learning, including the Engagement Model. Additional frameworks, qualifiers and forms can be configured with a school during setup; school users cannot yet build every type themselves in the interface. -
Does Voyage support interventions or provision mapping?
Not as a complete provision-mapping module in the current product. Voyage already connects pupil profiles, outcomes, goals, targets, learning records, assessment and configured forms. How it should support time-bounded provision and interventions is a discovery question for founding schools. -
What are intelligent suggestions?
An experimental, optional tool can rank relevant framework statements from a written observation. It is being tested with schools and staff always make the decision. Voyage does not currently generate EHCP targets, next steps or support strategies. -
What are learning records and Moments?
Learning records capture progress as it happens using written observations, photos or video. Voyage uses 'Moments' as a friendly way to describe the meaningful events those records preserve. Voice recording is not currently available. -
Can families see learning records?
Not directly in the current product. Safe, school-controlled family sharing is an area we may explore with founding schools; we will not describe it as available until it has been built and properly tested. -
How can my school become a founding school?
Start with a discovery conversation during Autumn 2026. We hope to find two or three special schools for supported pilots beginning in January 2027. A conversation is exploratory and does not commit your school to a pilot.
